{"id":60160,"date":"2021-10-28T04:45:56","date_gmt":"2021-10-27T17:45:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=60160"},"modified":"2021-10-28T11:24:45","modified_gmt":"2021-10-28T00:24:45","slug":"robinson-rides-to-career-best-finish-at-roxy-pro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/sport\/robinson-rides-to-career-best-finish-at-roxy-pro\/","title":{"rendered":"Robinson rides to career-best finish at ROXY Pro"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>IN a stellar final heat, a Jan Juc product has secured her best ever career finish at the ROXY Pro in France as part of the World Surf League (WSL) Challenger Series.<\/p>\n<p>India Robinson was embroiled in a final heat shootout against Costa Rica\u2019s Brisa Hennessy in three to four-foot swell at Culs Nuls, full of twists and turns.<\/p>\n<p>The third and fourth stops of the Challenger Series had to negotiate through an inconsistent weather report and timing had to be perfect for a good event finish.<\/p>\n<p>Even better, there was a full crowd in attendance to view the talent on offer first-hand.<\/p>\n<p>Robinson had been building momentum ever since the opening event at the US Open for the Challenger Series but was unable to topple an in-form Hennessy (15.23), who finished with an impressive 8.40 to stave off the persistent Aussie (13.16) who strung together a 7.83 earlier in the heat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThroughout this whole event I felt really strong in my surfing,\u201d Robinson said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had amazing surfboards and I just felt really comfortable out there. I love France and I think that my power surfing really suited the waves at Hossegor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFinishing second in this event is definitely my best result of my career so far! To finish second in a competition that was filled with so many amazingly talented girls was just the best feeling in the world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m on top of the world at the moment!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alongside winner of the Quiksilver Pro and fellow Australian Connor O\u2019Leary, Robinson was cheered on by a rowdy Aussie cohort that most of France could apparently hear.<\/p>\n<p>The Aussies that have been supporting their fellow countrymen according to Robinson are a super close group and have been encouraging each other every step of the way.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 628px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/10\/RoxyandQuiksilver_25862.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"628\" height=\"419\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Left to right: Brisa Hennessy of Costa Rica, Connor O&#8217;Leary, India Robinson of Australia and Michel Bourez of France holding their trophies following their final heats. I wouldn\u2019t be where I am without your support. Also, thank you to everyone who stayed up late to watch me,\u201d Robinson said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am very excited for Haleiwa. I haven\u2019t been to Hawaii before, but I love big, powerful waves.
