{"id":61649,"date":"2021-12-05T04:00:36","date_gmt":"2021-12-04T17:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=61649"},"modified":"2021-12-01T11:19:58","modified_gmt":"2021-12-01T00:19:58","slug":"picture-perfect-day-arrives-for-two-feet-and-a-heartbeat-geelong-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/picture-perfect-day-arrives-for-two-feet-and-a-heartbeat-geelong-event\/","title":{"rendered":"Picture-perfect day arrives for Two Feet and a Heartbeat Geelong event"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HUNDREDS from across the region turned out for the HeartKids Charity\u2019s Two Feet and a Heartbeat Walk and Community Market on Sunday in Mount Duneed.<\/p>\n<p>There were dozens of community stalls with local businesses lining the park next to Bunjil\u2019s Nest Playground on Armstrong Boulevard.<\/p>\n<p>Red, white and blue flags could be found throughout the event to honour children who had passed away or have suffered from congenital heart diseases.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 458px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/12\/IMG_2069_41067.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"458\" height=\"305\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Geelong Cats player Tom Stewart and his wife Emma led the walk with their son Arthur, who was diagnosed with supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) at birth.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The event was hosted by HeartKids mother and organiser, Hannah Pearl, who had spent months pulling the event together, juggling stallholders, organising permits and implementing COVIDSafe procedures.<\/p>\n<p>Headlining the day, families in attendance gathered for an emotional walk that followed speeches and a Welcome to Country conducted by South Barwon MP Darren Cheeseman.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Pearl was taken aback by the number of people who came up to her on the day reinforcing the support that was evident on a day filled with heartache.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI couldn\u2019t believe it, it was just a beautiful day,\u201d Ms Pearl said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverything came together, the stallholders were amazing, and everyone was so supportive. I\u2019ve had people coming up to me saying \u2018I had a heart condition as a child\u2019, introducing themselves and sharing their stories.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust being able to do this event means the world to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 455px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/12\/IMG_1963_84821.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"455\" height=\"303\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">South Barwon MP Darren Cheeseman conducting the Welcome to Country and kicking off the day&#8217;s proceedings.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The event raised more than $8,400 with all funds going to dedicated research.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HUNDREDS from across the region turned out for the HeartKids Charity\u2019s Two Feet and a Heartbeat Walk and Community Market on Sunday in Mount Duneed.
