{"id":62573,"date":"2021-12-26T04:00:18","date_gmt":"2021-12-25T17:00:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=62573"},"modified":"2021-12-22T14:20:19","modified_gmt":"2021-12-22T03:20:19","slug":"soccer-club-scores-important-winner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/soccer-club-scores-important-winner\/","title":{"rendered":"Soccer club scores important winner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SURF Coast Football Club has laid the foundations for a multi-million-dollar soccer facility redevelopment, which is set to deliver better experiences for players, spectators and volunteers.<\/p>\n<p>Builders have poured concrete slabs for new changerooms at Torquay&#8217;s Banyul-Warri fields, which is part of a $2.1 million upgrade for the growing local club.<\/p>\n<p>The new facility will provide SCFC with new changerooms, clubrooms, a grandstand, canteen and kitchen, and storage facilities, which currently has 380 players including 290 in its junior ranks.<\/p>\n<p>President Brett King said the major facility upgrade would score goals for the club as it aims to attract more players in future years, and as a social hub for the growing Torquay north community.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This has been a long journey for us to get this far. It&#8217;s great to see it moving, it&#8217;s really obvious to us to see how the plans are progressing and it&#8217;s a really exciting time for the club,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With Torquay being such a growth region, having people have such a sense of community and somewhere to mingle and meet like-minded people is a really great avenue for people to feel closer to the community and more of a sense of home in the region, especially with so many people in the area that are new and don&#8217;t have those social networks.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mr King said extra changerooms would help manage foot traffic on busy matchdays with multiple concurrent matches for boys and girls, and would make life easier on club volunteers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_62595\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-62595\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-62595 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/12\/SCFC-tea.png?_t=1640143101\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/12\/SCFC-tea.png 600w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/12\/SCFC-tea-300x190.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-62595\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The redevelopment is a win for the growing Surf Coast Football Club, which currently has 380 players including 290 juniors.
