Torquay Netball Club president Meagan Mifsud said the clubs were looking forward to finally being able to host the Tiger Drop in person for the first time in three years.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s really about the community. After the year that we\u2019ve had, everyone\u2019s trying to get back and socialise, meet up with family and friends \u2026 it\u2019s a beautiful day, you can just put the picnic rug down on the oval and listen to music and watch the kids have a bit of fun, it\u2019s really nice,\u201d Ms Mifsud said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019d love to see lots and lots of people there.\u201d<\/p>\n
Torquay Cricket Club president Rob Dunne said the day was the perfect way to build relationships across sports clubs and in the wider community, as well as provide a place for members to come and see the funding going back into the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s music, kids\u2019 activities, as much as it\u2019s an opportunity to fundraise, it is to get the community together with the three clubs,\u201d Mr Dunne said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is a day that anyone can come down to, it\u2019s not just if you\u2019re a football affiliate or play cricket or netball, but an opportunity to come to a community event \u2026 it\u2019s an opportunity to be able to see that the fundraising we do is for the community.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said the cricket club\u2019s share of the funds this year would be going towards a new roller and experiences for the junior cricketers.<\/p>\n
The Torquay Tiger Drop will be held at Spring Creek Reserve, Torquay, on February 20, between noon-5pm.<\/p>\n
