{"id":63459,"date":"2022-01-21T04:15:32","date_gmt":"2022-01-20T17:15:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=63459"},"modified":"2022-01-21T14:49:58","modified_gmt":"2022-01-21T03:49:58","slug":"jan-juc-to-host-victorian-kiteboarding-state-wave-titles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/jan-juc-to-host-victorian-kiteboarding-state-wave-titles\/","title":{"rendered":"Jan Juc to host Victorian Kiteboarding State Wave Titles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KITEBOARDING Victoria will host the 2022 Victorian Kiteboarding State Wave Titles at Jan Juc this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The January 22-23 event is part of the 2021\/22 National Wave Series, with state title events held across each state and the chance for competitors to compete in a the national event of the 2021\/22 National Wave Series.<\/p>\n<p>Kiteboarding Victoria president Jo MacKenna said the titles were intentionally affordable for competitors, with only a $25 registration fee and a $10 late fee for those who sign up on the day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s actually quite a cheap event, and it always has been,\u201d Ms MacKenna said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose that compete at this event get a chance to compete in the national event; this year it\u2019s in WA on the 10th of February.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ms MacKenna said this year they expect between 30 and 40 competitors, across several divisions including Junior (18 &amp; Under), Women\u2019s, Men\u2019s, Masters (35 &gt;) and Legends (50+).<\/p>\n<p>The event will run from midmorning onwards, with a condition report pending and is completely free for all spectators who want to come and watch the competition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe normally hold our events down at 13th Beach or Barwon Heads, but last year the national event was held at Jan Juc and we found it a really great location so we\u2019ve decided this year to move our event to Jan Juc,\u201d Ms MacKenna said.<\/p>\n<p>She said this year spectators were paying close attention to the Juniors boys division, with five junior boys competing for their third year and two of these looking at going to the world stage.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 589px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/01\/0G5A0601JamesCarew-_60822.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"589\" height=\"393\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Victorian Kiteboarding State Wave Title competitor James Carew competes in the 2021 GKA World Championships.
