THE upgrade of the pavilion at Stribling Reserve in Lorne is nearly complete, with the Surf Coast Shire hoping to finish the project by March.<\/p>\n
The new main pavilion includes a community hub with change rooms on the lower level and community social spaces on the second level.<\/p>\n
It features home and away change rooms, a commercial kitchen, unisex amenities to promote increased use by the school and female sports participants, canteen and new public toilets.<\/p>\n
“We\u2019re excited that the redevelopment of Lorne\u2019s Stribling Reserve main pavilion is in its final stages with interior fit out works about to get under way,” the shire’s general manager of culture and community Chris Pike said.<\/p>\n
“This follows the recent completion of internal plastering works and the installation of the kitchen as well as outdoor decking, which is made from recycled materials.<\/p>\n
“At this stage works are on track for completion in March, however we\u2019ll have to see how COVID might affect the trades working on this stage of the project. We\u2019ll get a better picture of the situation in the next few weeks.<\/p>\n
The works are part of the $6.5 million Stribling Reserve pavilions redevelopment project, which also includes the recently completed netball pavilion.<\/p>\n
The project has been funded by the federal government through the Building Better Regions Fund ($3.27 million) and the Surf Coast Shire ($3.27 million), including a $500,000 community contribution.<\/p>\n
Sustainability is set to become one of the key credentials of the main pavilion project, thanks to an $86,000 grant received from the Victorian government through Sustainability Victoria\u2019s Sustainable Infrastructure Fund.<\/p>\n
The build will include recycled materials in the surrounding decking and furniture.<\/p>\n
The shire has matched this amount, bringing the investment in recycled materials in the facility to $172,000.<\/p>\n
This investment will be the largest of its kind by local government on the Surf Coast and will feature about 280sqm of decking, walkways and outdoor furniture using recycled composite timber products.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
