The Barwon Health paediatric nurse and Jan Juc resident, will always have her heart back at home in the UK, but she\u2019s extremely happy with the life here down under.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m proud to be here and proud to be an Australian,\u201d Ms O\u2019Brien said.<\/p>\n
She is now also prepared to answer the tough question that comes with having an Australian and British citizenship.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t know who I\u2019m going to go for in the cricket,\u201d Ms O\u2019Brien joked. \u201cI think I\u2019ll tell people it depends on who\u2019s winning.\u201d<\/p>\n
Acting shire mayor Liz Pattison said it was a privilege to welcome the region\u2019s newest citizens.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a really special event for conferees and you can see it on their faces,\u201d Cr Pattison said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had a wonderfully diverse mix of nationalities represented at the ceremony.We had to move the event online due to the current Omicron outbreak but tried to still make it as special as possible for everyone.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had a native plant along with a gift bag, which we\u2019d normally present in-person, delivered to the home of each conferee ahead of the ceremony. They really appreciated this effort.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
