SURF Coast Football Club (SCFC) is inviting new players and members to become a part of its new era, as it kicks off its 2022 season next weekend.<\/p>\n

The Torquay-based club will host an open day on February 27 at its home ground of Banyul-Warri fields, and is encouraging both returning and prospective players to have a meet-and-greet ahead of the new season.<\/p>\n

“We’re delighted to be having our open day for season 2022 with something for everyone. Come along to have a kick, join in activities, ask any questions, register for the season, meet some of the coaches and more,” club president Brett King said.<\/p>\n

“Now is the perfect time become a member of Surf Coast FC. As a club, we are in an exciting period.”<\/p>\n

SCFC will be the primary beneficiary of a $2.1 million pavilion upgrade at Banyul-Warri fields, which is due to finish by the middle of this year.<\/p>\n

The redevelopment will provide the club with grandstands overlooking two of its pitches, its own dedicated clubroom and kitchen facilities, changerooms including female-friendly facilities and improved facilities for storage to make life easier for club volunteers.<\/p>\n

SCFC had 380 members including 290 juniors signed up in 2021 despite a COVID-interrupted year, and expected numbers to rise again as the region’s population continues to surge.<\/p>\n

“Early registrations help us with planning for the season ahead, ensuring we have the best resources available to guide and develop all our players \u2013 coaches, equipment, training and more,” Mr King said. “I can confirm that we are once again working towards having teams in all local divisions, for both boys-men and girls-women, across all age groups.”<\/p>\n

Mr King said the club was also reviewing its strategic vision alongside its season preparations, including a strategy centred around female participation that builds on work by state governing body Football Victoria.<\/p>\n

Registrations are now open for 2022, and the club is hoping to sign up players for this year’s junior boys and girls teams, with a range of programs and teams aged four to 17, as well as senior sides.<\/p>\n
