Photos: WESTFIELD<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Scentre Group national community experience manager Pam Wilson said the group is proud to continue to grow the program and build stronger relationships with community organisations, with $1.26 million in grants to be given out across the community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Westfield Local Heroes program is dedicated to celebrating the work of individuals and their organisations who have made a transformative and long-lasting impact in the lives of their local communities,\u201d Ms Wilson said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you know someone who has made outstanding contributions to their community, visit the Westfield website to nominate them as a Westfield Local Hero.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The program welcomes nominations for individuals who support the community in any field, including Family and Youth Support, Health and Wellbeing, Inclusion and Equity, Community resilience, Environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>Past nominations have included individuals from a wide range of sectors, including emergency services, registered community groups, sporting clubs, not-for-profits, schools and more.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_65225\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-65225\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-65225\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/Geelong_ClaireFaulma_53268.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"448\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-65225\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">CEO of OneCare Geelong Claire Faulmann won the 2021 Westfield Geelong Local Hero grant for providing 500 meals a week and 1.5 tons of groceries to families in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In 2021 the three finalists for Westfield Geelong included Andy Brittain from Geelong Youth Engagement, co-founder of Feed Me Bellarine, chef Anthony Woodbury, and the CEO of not-for-profit OneCare Geelong Claire Faulmann.<\/p>\n<p>Of these, Claire Faulmann from OneCare Geelong won the award for providing 500 meals a week and 1.5 tonnes of groceries to families in need during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as moving the organisation\u2019s counselling online for those who needed it during the pandemic.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_65266\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-65266\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-65266 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/Geelong_AnthonyWoodb_51079-600x380.jpeg?_t=1646110432\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-65266\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Co-founder of Feed Me Bellarine, Anthony Woodbury was a finalist in 2021 Westfield Geelong for using his skills as a chef to provide meals to families in need and runs a fresh produce supermarket and cafe for customers to pay what they can.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Head to www.westfield.com.au\/local-heroes for more information.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE fifth annual Westfield Local Heroes program is once again shining a spotlight on those making a difference in their local community.
