A NEW national battery recycling scheme is making its way to the Surf Coast, with a goal of the scheme to shift current recycling rates from around 10 to 90 per cent.<\/p>\n
The Battery Stewardship Council\u2019s (BSC) B-cycle scheme is launching with 2.351 drop off points around the country with an additional 1200 locations added in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n
Retail outlets such as ALDI, Bunnings, Officeworks and Woolworths are participating, as are community organisations such as the Lions Club.<\/p>\n
Coles will be added as a drop off point in coming months, and more locations will be available over coming months as additional battery collectors and recyclers become accredited.<\/p>\n
Drop off points can be located by entering your postcode in the B-cycle website.<\/p>\n
Leading brands such as Energizer, Duracell, Panasonic, Super Retail Group, Milwaukee, Stanley Black & Decker, and Makita, along with numerous other brands, are helping fund the scheme, as is the federal government.<\/p>\n
