Ordinarily the little dish medallion is presented unadorned, but Ms McAlister\u2019s was mounted on a wooden bass guitar and stand and, when it was given to her, is quoted as saying \u201coh, straight to the pool room\u201d.<\/p>\n
Although the send-off was at the Men\u2019s Shed in Torquay\u2019s Price Street, the Men\u2019s Shed Singers don\u2019t normally perform there anymore because it\u2019s not big enough, they\u2019ve long since out grown it.<\/p>\n
For now, they sing at the Torquay Improvement Association Hall, but are eagerly awaiting a planned move to new premises at Spring Creek.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe do a bit of work around the local nursing homes, have sung at the markets and we\u2019re occasionally invited to sing at events \u2026 have done a few shed member funerals,\u201d Mr Robinson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe don\u2019t call ourselves a choir, we don\u2019t aim to be the best singers, our primary aim is to look after men\u2019s health and group singing is one of the best ways to de-stress.\u201d<\/p>\n
