A collective of talented local artists will hold a group exhibition in celebration of the Spring Creek valley in Torquay.<\/p>\n

Spring Creek: A Collective Response<\/em> is being curated Andrea Shaw and Natalie Martin and will be held in the recently opened Fine Thanks Gallery in Baines Crescent.<\/p>\n

Opening tonight (May 19) and running until June 16, the curated selection will showcase a diverse array of contemporary Surf Coast artists in this newly established gallery.<\/p>\n

The co-curators said the exhibition aimed to explore what Spring Creek means to the artists involves and to create a sense of celebration of this special place.<\/p>\n

“This show is timely, with the recent announcement of the final planning policy for the Surf Coast Distinctive Area and Landscape (DAL) program and the protection of Spring Creek,” Natalie says.<\/p>\n

“Andrea and I have spent quite a bit of time down by the creek painting together and that is where the idea was born.<\/p>\n

“We have so much appreciation for this natural sanctuary in the heart of our community and we thought a local show could be the perfect way to share that.”<\/p>\n

The exhibition lineup includes Geoffrey Carran, Nick Morris, Kathryn Junor, Jenna Winship, Simon Holloway, Peta Armstrong, Regina Middleton, as well as Andrea and Natalie.<\/p>\n

The opening night of Spring Creek: A Collective Response<\/em> was held on Thursday and the exhibition is open until June 16.<\/p>\n

The Fine Thanks Gallery is located at 27 Baines Crescent (next to Sou’West Brewery) and opens on weekdays from 9am to 5pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
