{"id":70525,"date":"2022-05-28T04:00:04","date_gmt":"2022-05-27T18:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=70525"},"modified":"2022-05-25T12:13:23","modified_gmt":"2022-05-25T02:13:23","slug":"regions-lifesaving-volunteers-recognised","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/regions-lifesaving-volunteers-recognised\/","title":{"rendered":"Region&#8217;s lifesaving volunteers recognised"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MORE than two dozen of the region\u2019s lifesaving volunteers were awarded on Saturday night for their outstanding achievements in operations, club services, development, training, and sports during season 2021-22 at Life Saving Victoria\u2019s (LSV) Valuing Volunteer Events (West).<\/p>\n<p>One of the volunteers honoured over the weekend at Jan Juc SLSC was long-serving Anglesea SLSC volunteer Bernedus \u201cBen\u201d Homburg who said his 30 years of service had countless positives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve made some incredible friendships through lifesaving, and really value the camaraderie of all the competitors and officials across all different age groups,\u201d Mr Homburg said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve also built upon my management skills in managing people and events.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love that officiating gives you the opportunity to be part of the action on the beach without getting too wet.
