{"id":71114,"date":"2022-06-08T04:00:46","date_gmt":"2022-06-07T18:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=71114"},"modified":"2022-06-01T14:30:11","modified_gmt":"2022-06-01T04:30:11","slug":"tigers-welcome-return-of-sponsors-and-life-members","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/tigers-welcome-return-of-sponsors-and-life-members\/","title":{"rendered":"Tigers welcome return of sponsors and life members"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NEW sponsors and life members were welcomed to the Torquay Tigers last weekend, the club\u2019s first event of its kind in a pandemic-interrupted few years.<\/p>\n<p>Steve Cooper, Meagan Mifsud and Michael Grossman were all awarded life memberships for their years of service to the Football, Netball and Cricket club.<\/p>\n<p>Tigers football president Jenny Wood said that although the club did lose a few sponsors in recent years, some of which had closed, another 19 new sponsors had signed up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s the biggest members and sponsors day in years,\u201d Ms Wood said of the event attended by more than 120 people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s really important for them to come back and spend some time here, get to see everyone again.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_71127\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-71127\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-71127\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/06\/Pool-in-article-2022-06-01T142703.829.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/06\/Pool-in-article-2022-06-01T142703.829.png 600w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/06\/Pool-in-article-2022-06-01T142703.829-300x190.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-71127\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Three new life members &#8211; Michael Grossman (from left), Meagan Mifsud and Steve Cooper.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s about reconnecting the community, meeting sponsors, seeing what the club can do, has on offer and show them where their money is going.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ms Wood said it was also an important refresh after the cutting short of last year\u2019s football finals season that had a big impact on the club.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a bit of a reset, we\u2019re back ready to get started again, but the hangover of 2021 where we got cut off at finals that we know we would\u2019ve won is still with us.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSame for kids footy, for many it would have been their first final \u2026 we underestimate how much impact that had on the juniors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re just hoping we get through this year without a hitch.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NEW sponsors and life members were welcomed to the Torquay Tigers last weekend, the club\u2019s first event of its kind in a pandemic-interrupted few years.
