FAY Harrison was a mature-age student when she completed a Literature\/History degree at Deakin University and it was there her passion for history was ignited.<\/p>\n
A Torquay local for more than 30 years, Fay has been turning her enthusiasm for history into a series of classes as a tutor for the University of the Third Age (U3A).<\/p>\n
U3A Surf Coast is about to begin term one for its fourth year of operation on February 12, with Fay\u2019s class Australian History: Colonisation to Federation just one of 18 classes and activities on offer.<\/p>\n
During Fay\u2019s class, students will explore the period from First European Settlement in 1788 to Federation in 1901. Over four interactive sessions, participants will look at the key events and people that shaped Australia\u2019s history.<\/p>\n
Other classes on offer at U3A range from the favourite language classes, including French, Latin and Italian, to popular lessons on Yoga and Tai Chi. Armchair politics will continue, as well as creative writing and philosophy\/meditation.<\/p>\n
