A LOCALLY inspired playlist is greeting travellers to the Great Ocean Road as part of a tourism and music industry partnership to capture the unique character of Victoria’s must-see destinations.<\/p>\n
Music Victoria and Visit Victoria joined forces to showcase talent of six of the state’s regions, encouraging visitors to immerse themselves in local sound while exploring both the area’s tourism hotspots and hidden gems.<\/p>\n
Warrnambool indie singer-songwriter Tom Richardson had curation duties for the Great Ocean Road and focused on some of the less-travelled areas at the west end of the famous tourist route.<\/p>\n
“All artists featured on the Great Ocean Road playlist either live or grew up on the rugged south-west end of the Great Ocean Road,” he said.<\/p>\n
Ages and genres are as varied as the Warrnambool weather patterns, but there’s definitely something in the water down here.”<\/p>\n
The playlist – “Great Ocean Road (by Tom Williamson)” – includes 35 locally flavored tunes that portray their artist’s affection for their favourite features or landmarks to add to visitors’ experience.<\/p>\n
The playlist program is part of Visit Victoria’s broader ‘Stay close, go further’ campaign, encouraging Victorians to explore all corners of their own state.<\/p>\n
The curated playlists were released on music streaming platform Spotify earlier this month to coincide with World Music Day on June 21.<\/p>\n
Melbourne CBD (curated by Evelyn Ida Morris), the Murray (Benny Walker), High Country (This Way North), The Grampians (Alice Skye) and Gippsland (Harry Hook Is Real) are also featured as part of the program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
