{"id":74314,"date":"2022-07-26T04:15:04","date_gmt":"2022-07-25T18:15:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=74314"},"modified":"2022-07-20T11:58:12","modified_gmt":"2022-07-20T01:58:12","slug":"green-cleaning-arrives-at-angleseas-doorstep","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/green-cleaning-arrives-at-angleseas-doorstep\/","title":{"rendered":"Green cleaning arrives at Anglesea&#8217;s doorstep"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ANGLESEA has taken a step towards becoming chemical-free following the installation of a new eWater System at its community house, which is available for community use at a minimal cost.<\/p>\n<p>A small electrolysis unit has made its way to Anglesea Community House with a warm reception on Thursday night offering a more organic and less wasteful method of cleaning to residents.<\/p>\n<p>The system, created and donated by Australian-based company eWater Systems, uses salt, water, and electricity to create an Organic Certified disinfectant, cleaner and sanitiser, offering a more environmentally friendly way of cleaning around the house.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe just wanted to allow the local community to access electrolysed water at low cost in some way, particularly coming out of COVID-19,\u201d eWater Systems chief executive officer and Aireys Inlet resident Dawn O\u2019Neil said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe major differences this system provides includes a massive decrease in plastics going to landfill using reusable bottles, a reduction in harmful chemicals going into our waterways, a definite reduction in exposure to children, and a reduction is expenditure too.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the past 15 years we have focused on selling commercially, but this is very recent that everyday households have begun to have access to this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 499px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/07\/IMG_3641_07236.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"499\" height=\"333\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Shire mayor Libby Stapleton was pleased to introduce the system at last Thursday&#8217;s meeting with residents.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Anglesea Community House\u2019s financial model will work by getting users to pay an initial payment of $5 for a labelled bottle, which is followed by a lifetime of refills for just a gold coin donation.<\/p>\n<p>The unit, worth about $10,000, aims to get the ball rolling for a community that has been at the forefront of sustainability in the past.<\/p>\n<p>The coastal town became the first in Victoria to become plastic bag free back in 2004 and is now in pursuit of becoming 100 per cent chemical-free.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think this new system will be huge for Anglesea,\u201d Anglesea Community House co-ordinator Marcelle Renkin said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is already a pretty high level of environmental consciousness and sustainability here in town, seeing things getting traction such as the health of the Anglesea River.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is already precedence of community action within Anglesea and Aireys Inlet and I think people are keen to get involved in switching away from harmful chemicals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 638px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/07\/IMG_3630_18785.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"638\" height=\"426\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The eWater System located within the Anglesea Community House.
