{"id":76320,"date":"2022-08-18T08:16:02","date_gmt":"2022-08-17T22:16:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/super-shocked-couta-captain-beats-all-in-best-and-fairest\/"},"modified":"2022-08-18T08:16:02","modified_gmt":"2022-08-17T22:16:02","slug":"super-shocked-couta-captain-beats-all-in-best-and-fairest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/sport\/super-shocked-couta-captain-beats-all-in-best-and-fairest\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cSuper shocked\u201d: Couta captain beats all in best and fairest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">QUEENSCLIFF&#8217;S Kaitlin Gladman is bringing a league best and fairest back to the borough, tallying a massive 32-vote haul at last night\u2019s Bellarine Netball League vote count.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gladman, a first-year captain of the Coutas, finished five votes ahead of Ocean Grove\u2019s Rebecca O\u2019Neill (27) in a race of the league\u2019s two top goal scorers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI\u2019m super shocked, I was completely unaware that I would even be up there, so yeah I\u2019m very excited,\u201d Gladman said after being announced best and fairest.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt\u2019s pretty crazy, I was lucky enough to win the Under 19 league best and fairest last year as well.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt\u2019s been a really big change coming from 19\u2019s to seniors.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_57375\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-57375\" style=\"width: 231px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-57375\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/08\/2H3A1211-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"231\" height=\"347\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-57375\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kaitlin Gladman amassed a whopping 32 votes last night to secure the Bellarine Netball League&#8217;s best and fairest.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Queenscliff\u2019s goal attack snagged 17 votes in the last seven rounds of counting and tallied seven best-on-court nominations on her way to the win.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gladman also scored 495 goals in the 2022 campaign, trailing only O\u2019Neill\u2019s 831.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe physicality side of the game this season has been a big thing for me, just trying to develop myself to be able to deal with opponents,\u201d Gladman said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cLeadership-wise I was lucky enough to be the captain this year, I tried to take on the development of some of the younger girls that we have in our team, which was great for me too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gladman credited head coach Katrina Daws with her development over the past year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cKatrina has been an absolute breath of fresh air this year, we all love her at Queenscliff, and we love all the work that she\u2019s done this season.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jessica Kelly of Geelong Amateur was named B Grade best and fairest, Modewarre\u2019s Lauren Richardson took home C Grade, Queenscliff\u2019s Kirrily Sager was awarded the D Grade honour and Ammos\u2019 Jalen Walsh secured E Grade best and fairest.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Top 10 vote-getters in A Grade:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kaitlin Gladman (Queenscliff) \u2013 32 votes<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rebecca O\u2019Neill (Ocean Grove) \u2013 27 votes<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jessica Duke (Newcomb) \u2013 25 votes<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kelsey Ollis (Ocean Grove) \u2013 24 votes<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ashlea Creasey (Geelong Amateur) \u2013 23 votes<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ruby Bowers (Modewarre) \u2013 21 votes<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jessica Standfield (Torquay) \u2013 20 votes<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rhian Moresi (Torquay) \u2013 18 votes<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alyce Delaney (Drysdale) \u2013 14 votes<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Keisha Guilmartin (Geelong Amateur) \u2013 14 votes<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>QUEENSCLIFF&#8217;S Kaitlin Gladman is bringing a league best and fairest back to the borough, tallying a massive 32-vote haul at last night\u2019s Bellarine Netball League vote count.
