ANGLESEA was at the forefront of a larger-than-life promotion of the latest addition of the Game of Thrones<\/em> series when a mimic dragon egg washed up at its beach last week.<\/p>\n

Locals were perplexed with the surreal scenes at the town’s beach last Thursday morning<\/a>, when a four-by-two metre scaly orb appeared during the night.<\/p>\n

The object resembled the dragon eggs that featured in the first season of Game of Thrones<\/em>, which later hatched into three fire-breathing creatures for Daenerys Targaryen.<\/p>\n

The egg’s origins were soon revealed as part of a pump-up for the House of the Dragon<\/em> prequel series based on creator George R. R. Martin’s Fire and Blood<\/em> novel, which follows the rise and fall of the Targaryen empire referenced throughout the original eight-season series.<\/p>\n

The egg was crane-lifted onto a truck bearing warning signs “Dragon on board” later on Friday, where it was shipped to Federation Square for public exhibition over the past weekend.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Dragons were reportedly spotted flying over Melbourne’s city centre while the egg was perched below, with silhouettes and their screeches adding to the display.<\/div>\n
