Overall, eight team members shared five national stream medals, while 15 athletes danced their way to world qualification in the international stream of the event by either medalling or wowing the judges with their performance.<\/p>\n
“We did extremely well at the nationals, not only did athletes win their divisions but some were also lucky enough to qualify for the world championships,” Aerosport Allstars director Justine Bratanavicius said.<\/p>\n
“It was probably the highest-level national championships that we have seen in a very long time and it’s a true credit to the athlete’s effort and dedication over the years, especially during the pandemic.<\/p>\n
“It’s the first time many of the athletes will go to worlds, and they will be well led by local athlete Tahnee Bratanavicius who received the honour of being named the Australian team captain.<\/p>\n
“To have so many selected to move onto the world’s in the Czech Republic is fantastic and we are remarkably proud of all of our athletes who competed in the different streams of the event”.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Local Torquay gymnast Savannah Smith (aged 13) was one of the highlights of the four-day competition, winning both her heat and Junior National Individual Female section final by a considerable margin.<\/p>\n Ms Smith’s division was said to be the biggest of the event, with more than 15 athletes competing to take the crown.<\/p>\n “To take out her first heat against the best juniors in the country and then to continue that form and win in the finals was an incredible achievement,” Bratanavicius said.<\/p>\n “To win the heat and the final is unheard of at this sort of level, she really just showed the judges she was the best in both sections both times.”<\/p>\n Athletes who have qualified through the international stream will begin competition at the FISAF International World Sports Aerobics and Fitness Championships in Ostrava, Czech Republic on November 1.<\/p>\n Aerosport Allstars are looking for local organisations to jump on board and support athletes travelling to the world titles through raffle prize donations.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/09\/Tahnee_29114-1-600x380.jpg?_t=1663638973\")
