ANGLESEA Art Space will host works by the one hundred local artists who are in the running to be included in in the 2023 Surf Coast Arts Calendar.<\/p>\n

This year, the Surf Coast Arts Calendar has attracted a bumper field of submissions with the Surf Coast Shire saying that the rise in entrants is a sign of a renaissance in the art sector.<\/p>\n

Significantly up on previous years’ entry numbers, the calendar competition will be judged by a local selection panel who will pick 12 works for the calendar as well as a people\u2019s champion.<\/p>\n

One lucky entrant is also set to be awarded the cover shot for the popular annual collaboration.<\/p>\n

Judges will award their favourite pieces for the calendar from three categories, open, installed cultural and child\/youth.<\/p>\n

Surf Coast Shire Councillor Rose Hodge said she was excited to cast an eye over tentries at the exhibition.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is so good seeing one of Australia\u2019s most creative communities doing its thing with this wonderful volume of entries, and the outstanding quality of the works,\u201d Cr Rose Hodge said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe received 13 entries in the 3D category and 87 in 2D, from a mix of professional and hobby artists.<\/p>\n

\u201cTheir mediums range from paper mache, painting and linocut to glass and metal work, use of found objects, and etchings.<\/p>\n

\u201cI, for one, can\u2019t wait to see them all together in exhibition.\u201d<\/p>\n

Councillors will announce the winning works during the launch of the Surf Coast Arts Calendar Exhibition from 6pm to 8pm on 14 October at Anglesea Art Space, 2\/103 Great Ocean Road.<\/p>\n

Community members are welcome to attend the launch, and the exhibition will open Thursday to Sunday 10am to 4pm from 15 to 29 October, and 10am to 2pm on 30 October.<\/p>\n

People will be able to view the works and vote in the people\u2019s choice awards via www.surfcoastartstrail.com.au<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n
