AN AGED care provider is bringing a recruitment drive to Torquay next week in a bid to attract more locals to in-home care jobs.<\/p>\n

Federal government agency, the Local Jobs Program, has partnered with provider mecwacare for the event that will aim to fill around 20 aged care jobs across Torquay, Jan Juc and Anglesea.<\/p>\n

The coming recruitment event will allow participants to learn more about the opportunities and speak with mecwacare staff about the roles, which have immediate start dates.<\/p>\n

“We are holding this event to find local people who want to work with the elderly to live fulfilling and purposeful lives”, mecwacare talent acquisition partner Abby Chatterjee said.<\/p>\n

The non-profit aged care provider cares for 16,500 people each week across Victoria, with its more than 2,000 employees and 500 volunteers.<\/p>\n

The available jobs are for domestic assistants, which need no qualifications or experience, and personal care workers, which require a Certificate III in aged care, home and community care and disability. Both roles also require a driver’s license and access to a vehicle.<\/p>\n

Employment Facilitator for the Barwon Region Local Jobs Program Tracey Jeffery said the jobs could be suitable for a range of applicants.<\/p>\n

“The beauty of these roles is that people have the flexibility to work as many hours as they like. Their roster can work around school pick up and drop off, caring for parents, or any other responsibilities a person may have,” she said.<\/p>\n

“For people who enjoy helping others and would like some additional income, these roles with mecwacare are ideal.”<\/p>\n

The event is at Wurdi Baierr Stadium next Wednesday (October 12) across two sessions at 10am and 1pm.<\/p>\n
