A FULL house of women in pink attended Anglesea Bowls Club for the Anglesea Lionettes Pink Ribbon Luncheon hosted during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.<\/p>\n
Lionettes president Carmen Koster said it had been three years since the group last hosted its annual event due to COVID-related delays, but those in attendance made up for lost time raising over $4,000 on the day.<\/p>\n
“Everyone enjoyed themselves, from the food to the company, all for a good cause that affects everyone is some form,” Ms Koster said.<\/p>\n
“It seemed everyone was just so thrilled to get out and get dressed up for the occasion, as most people have been touched somehow by breast cancer and this is an event that our organisation takes great pride in.<\/p>\n
The drink of choice on the day was ‘Pink’ champagne, tying into the pink theme, including clothing worn.<\/p>\n
Money raised at the event was donated to Breast Cancer research at the Cancer Council.<\/p>\n
Lionettes secretary Betsy Newman said the social part of the luncheon is the most important part of the event aside from the fundraising component.<\/p>\n
“The atmosphere that comes with everyone uniting for a common cause is absolutely fantastic,” Ms Newman said.<\/p>\n
“None of it would have been possible without our sponsors and local business either, so to have the community backing our objective as well made us really grateful and thankful for the support.”<\/p>\n
To cap off the successful day, Surf Coast Shire Mayor Libby Stapleton provided encouraging words and praise to the Anglesea Lionettes Club.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
