THE Regional Institute of Sport & Exercise (RISE) launched at the Surf Coast Secondary College earlier this month.<\/p>\n

The institute is a collaboration between local exercise physiologist and sports coach Michelle Hemley and Corio Bay Health Group.<\/p>\n

The youth sport development academy at Surf Coast Secondary College has proven successful, with the gymnasium filled with eager students, ready to improve their fitness and athletic ability on Wednesday afternoons since its beginning.<\/p>\n

RISE chief executive officer Michelle Hemley has an extensive background of more than 20 years in coaching, exercise physiology and physical education teaching.<\/p>\n

This new opportunity allows her to link her team of coaches, sport scientists and exercise physiologists with the clinicians and high performance team from Corio Bay Health Group, allowing a greater scope of practice and resources.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe work with people of all ages at RISE, however, our expertise within school systems and junior sport allows us to provide a focus on youth and adolescents, which truly gives us the opportunity to change lives,\u201d Michelle said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis isn\u2019t just about winning a premiership or state title, it\u2019s about giving people the skills and motivation to stay involved in sport and an active lifestyle, working to create a healthier future generation. We are extremely excited about what RISE can achieve in our community.\u201d<\/p>\n
