SURFING Victoria will receive a funding boost for its programs on the Surf Coast if Labor wins next week’s state election.<\/p>\n
Labor candidate for Polwarth Hutch Hussein said if the Andrews Labor Government was re-elected, Surfing Victoria would receive $100,000 to assist in Surfing Victoria’s operations on the Surf Coast.<\/p>\n
Inclusive programs such as free board rescue and CPR courses, the Surf Her Way initiative (an initiative that encourages women and girls to discover the joys of surfing), and the Victorian Indigenous Surfing Program would all benefit from Labor’s funding.<\/p>\n
Ms Hussein and South Barwon Labor MP Darren Cheeseman met with Surfing Victoria program participants and representatives on Tuesday this week at Torquay Surf Beach to make the announcement.<\/p>\n
“From locals along Victoria’s iconic Surf Coast to competitors from across the globe, everyone knows and loves Surfing Victoria, their good work has been supporting the next generation of surfing stars for years,” Ms Hussein said.<\/p>\n
“This grant will support Surfing Victoria to deliver the events, courses and training that locals need, while ensuring the hardworking staff can keep doing what they do best \u2013 supporting surfers and the communities that support them.”<\/p>\n
Surfing Victoria continues to support thousands of locals throughout the Surf Coast, providing the community with the essential support and training they need while cultivating the next generation of surfing superstars.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
