THE St Joseph’s College Geelong community has paid tribute to former student and long-time St Joseph’s College Foundation committee member Kevin Costa, who died on Thursday last week at the age of 78.<\/p>\n
Kevin joined St Joseph’s as a student in 1955 as a boarder with his older brother Anthony.<\/p>\n
Mr Costa was a well-known and well-respected member of the college’s community for many years and was a driving force in launching the St Joseph’s College Foundation in 1995.<\/p>\n
He served as the foundation’s chair from 1999-2009 and was still part of the committee at the time of his death.<\/p>\n
St Joseph’s College Geelong said they were saddened by the passing of Mr Costa, as he always had a great passion for the college and its works.<\/p>\n
“Kevin was thrilled to receive a 25-year service award to the College and the Foundation at the Foundation’s 25-year celebration in November last year, with fellow long serving committee members Dr Joe Virgona and Peter Rudd,” the college said.<\/p>\n
“Kevin’s stories of his time at St Joseph’s, in particular as a boarder, are legendary and he attended all the reunions over many years with fellow boarders.<\/p>\n
“To Lorraine and Brad and the entire Costa family, the College extends its heartfelt sympathy.<\/p>\n
“He was a true friend of St Joseph’s who will be greatly missed by his fellow Old Collegians and by all of the members of his St Joseph’s family.”<\/p>\n
Mr Costa’s funeral will be held at St Mary of the Angels Basilica in Geelong today (Friday, November 25) at 2pm.<\/p>\n
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to The Murdoch Children’s Research Institute or Save Our Sons Duchenne Foundation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
