ANGLESEA Surf Life Saving Club has celebrated 70 years of patrolling beaches, community engagement and providing life-saving skills.<\/p>\n

Past and present members gathered earlier this month to reflect on the club’s history and view the a memorabilia display, which was curated by Anglesea and Life Saving Victoria life member and historian, Prue Weber.<\/p>\n

More than 200 people enjoyed a barbecue and informal celebrations where organisers presented attendees with caps to commemorate the club’s 70 year’s of service.<\/p>\n

Among the members who attended the event was Anglesea SLSC president David Marsh, whose children are now fourth generation lifesavers at Anglesea SLSC.<\/p>\n

“The surf club has been an integral part of mine and my family’s life and it’s wonderful to share this great place now with my children,” Mr Marsh said.<\/p>\n

“The 70th celebrations showed what a rich and successful history the club has had, and I cannot wait to see what we can achieve over the next 1 to 20 years.”<\/p>\n

Capping off the weekend’s proceedings was the appearance of local legends including 93-year-old Kenneth Coulson, who did his Bronze Medallion in 1952.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the club properly celebrated the achievements of member Christine Cardwell, who was awarded as Surf Sport Coach of the Year at the Surf Life Saving Australia Awards earlier this month.<\/p>\n
