{"id":86134,"date":"2022-12-06T04:00:27","date_gmt":"2022-12-05T17:00:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=86134"},"modified":"2022-12-01T20:15:31","modified_gmt":"2022-12-01T09:15:31","slug":"all-about-art-and-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/all-about-art-and-community\/","title":{"rendered":"All About Art and community"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A DIVERSE showcase of Surf Coast artists will be exhibited in Jan Juc next weekend (December 9-11) in an event designed to help artists bounce back from the pandemic, and to raise funds for a Geelong-based brain cancer support service.<\/p>\n<p>Curator and organiser Roe Clapham says the All About Art show is her way of giving back to the community and her artist friends who during COVID took a hit to their bottom lines.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I saw the way they lost their confidence because they weren&#8217;t selling their art and I went right, I&#8217;ve got to do something to help,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I had 12 artists in mind, but I ended up with 16, it was all about giving back to them\u2026 and then I wanted to be able to give money away, so that&#8217;s why we partnered with a Peace of Mind.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ms Clapham said it took her a while to settle on the brain cancer support service that started in Torquay 10 years ago, but it was a logical choice when she did.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I wanted to give to a charity that didn&#8217;t have government funding, and they do all their own fundraising.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I decided that was a great partnership, how they care for their patients and their family, before and after the patient passes. They are an incredible bunch of people.&#8221;<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-86139 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/12\/In-Article-2022-12-01T153231.885.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/12\/In-Article-2022-12-01T153231.885.png 600w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/12\/In-Article-2022-12-01T153231.885-300x190.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>Artists working across mediums including pottery, jewellery, glass, wood, drawings, sculptures, printed textiles, knits and several painting styles will take over the interior and exterior of Ms Clapham&#8217;s accommodation in Jan Juc.<\/p>\n<p>The works will range from $15 to $3000 and 90 per cent of the sale price will go to the artist with the remainder going to Peace of Mind.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So it&#8217;s affordable for everybody, and there&#8217;ll be plenty of small things that people will be able to purchase for Christmas gifts,&#8221; Ms Clapham said.<\/p>\n<p>To bolster fundraising efforts for the charity a 60-person dinner is being held on Saturday night, with all proceeds going to A Peace of Mind.<\/p>\n<p>The event has support from McCartney Real Estate and anonymous donors, and will be complimented with music by local artist and musician Jeff Raglus, as well coffee and drinks carts.<\/p>\n<p>The event is open between at 10.00am and 4.00pm from Friday, December 9, through till Sunday, with free parking available at 22a Bells Boulevard.<\/p>\n<p>For more information visit: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aaaallaboutart.com.au\">www.aaaallaboutart.com.au<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong><em>\/\/ Sponsored Content<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A DIVERSE showcase of Surf Coast artists will be exhibited in Jan Juc next weekend (December 9-11) in an event designed to help artists bounce back from the pandemic, and to raise funds for a Geelong-based brain cancer support service.
