{"id":87089,"date":"2022-12-18T04:00:48","date_gmt":"2022-12-17T17:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=87089"},"modified":"2022-12-19T10:07:35","modified_gmt":"2022-12-18T23:07:35","slug":"roo-run-preparations-ramp-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/roo-run-preparations-ramp-up\/","title":{"rendered":"Roo Run preparations ramp up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PREPARATIONS are firmly underway as entrants and volunteers hop to the start line for the 2022 Roo Run in Anglesea this December.<\/p>\n<p>Scheduled to take place on December 27, the Anglesea Motor Yacht Club (AMYC) fundraiser will see seasoned campaigners, weekend joggers, social walkers and those just starting out, take on a beautiful scenic running through the hills, beaches and bushlands of Anglesea.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_87090\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-87090\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-87090\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/12\/IMG_0535_63391.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-87090\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Roo Run posters and flyers can now be seen around Anglesea.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Roo Run event director Deb Elliot said entries have been ticking along nicely for the 1.6km, 4km and 8km races and added that there have been plenty of volunteers that have been steadily working in the background in readiness for the post-Christmas event.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have been really happy with how the entries have been coming along and excited about the number of volunteers who have signed up to help,&#8221; Elliot said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve got signs ready to go, the trophies are done, and the website is up so we are very well underway.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The event will once again support the AMYC and will also see us donate lots of money to the local school and the Lions Club.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Everything is under control, and we are all really excited for it to kick off.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_87098\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-87098\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-87098 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/12\/IMG_0563_63402-1-600x380.jpg?_t=1670980241\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-87098\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The race will traverse along the cliffs of Anglesea and down onto the beach at Point Roadknight and Anglesea.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This year, the Roo Run will traverse along the cliffs and beaches of Point Roadknight, Soap Rocks and Anglesea, past the Anglesea River and explore elements of the Coastal Walk trail before finishing up on the boat ramp outside the Anglesea Motor Yacht Club.<\/p>\n<p>A host of local organisations including Go Ride a Wave, the Lions Club of Anglesea, Surf Coast Trail Runners, the Anglesea Men&#8217;s Shed and the Anglesea Primary School have all put their hand up to continue their support in executing the event from a volunteer standpoint.<\/p>\n<p>December 27 will also be the opening of the ever-popular Rusty Anchor Bar which will be sure to get a good run post-race.<\/p>\n<p>Special trophies will also be awarded to race winners and have been designed by local artist Cinnamon Stephens.<\/p>\n<p>Entries remain open and are filling up fast at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.roorun.com.au\/\">www.roorun.com.au\/<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PREPARATIONS are firmly underway as entrants and volunteers hop to the start line for the 2022 Roo Run in Anglesea this December.
