Photo: DI MORE<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The club has 85 members and the numbers continue to grow exponentially,&#8221; Warren said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The club is really thriving and the friendliness of Torquay has made it a really great place for members to be.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We recently had a letter from an elderly gentlemen saying how it&#8217;s been a revelation being a part of the group.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He said it&#8217;s something he looks forward to every couple of days and saved him from what he explained was waiting around to pass away.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_88115\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-88115\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-88115 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/12\/groupphoto_31637-1-600x380.jpg?_t=1672183822\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-88115\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">There are close to 85 members now enrolled at the Torquay Bridge Club. Photo: ROBERT SETTERFIELD<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;While we have a mixed group, we are looking at the 50\u201390-year-old age group and those that can&#8217;t surf or do something of that nature any more,&#8221; Mr Warren said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Bridge is challenging and it keeps people very intellectually active.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Those that have played games like solo or euchre would be off to a very good start, but lessons are available for those that haven&#8217;t played before.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Club joining fees are $40 a year, while table fees are $5 for members and affiliates and $6 for visitors for face-to-face play.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, head to<a href=\"http:\/\/torquay.bridgeaustralia.org\/\"> torquay.bridgeaustralia.org\/<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE Torquay Bridge Club not only provides a social outing for all members but also helps keep players&#8217; minds sharp.
