The annual Deans Marsh Festival returns on Easter Sunday with a theme that reflects the town\u2019s thriving state and inclusive atmosphere. Organisers have chosen the theme, \u201cGrowing our Community\u201d, and all are invited to raise some seedlings at home and bring them along to the festival to help create a community garden.
\nSeed packs are available from Deans Marsh Community College.
\nAs well as the idea behind creating a community garden, festival organiser Ruth Hamilton said the theme mirrored the town as a whole.
\n\u201cWe are growing as a community as well as in population.
\n\u201cThere are lots of new families and faces here and this theme seems like the perfect way to capture this exciting period of new growth and new connections.\u201d
\nThere is plenty more planned for the festival.
\nThe headline entertainment act is local 10-piece The Bash Big Band, and there will also be performances by Treehouse Uke Band, The Bookshop, Sarah Carroll, Uke D\u2019Jour and up and coming artists.
\nThe favourites will be back, including the Deans Marsh Gift, Sheaf Toss, Dog Races, Dog Jump, Gumboot Toss, Best Dog competition and Sheep Dog Trial demos.
\nHeaps of children\u2019s activities, including jumping castles, pony rides and art and craft are also on offer, not to mention more than 45 market stalls promoting local growers and producers, making it a great family day out.
\nDeans Marsh Festival is on Easter Sunday (March 27) from 10am-5pm at the Recreation Reserve, Pennyroyal Valley Road, Deans Marsh.
