<\/p>\nANGLESEA Lions will stick with tradition next week and host its Australia Day celebrations on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n
The town’s free community event will continue in 2023 as it has for close to 40 years on the morning of January 26, attracting hundreds of spectators who are primarily permanent residents.<\/p>\n
Guest speakers on the day include co-chair of Reconciliation Victoria and Federation University Professor Andrew Gunstone.<\/p>\n
Prof Gunstone has researched and published extensive work on Indigenous studies, history and public policy and will share his insights into the progress of reconciliation and the future of the process.<\/p>\n

Musician Mike Brady is also on the speaker list as an ambassador for the National Australia Day Council.<\/p>\n
Billy Tea Bush Band is the headline entertainment act, while local organisations including Anglesea Rock Choir and Torquay Scouts will take part in the event.<\/p>\n
Community involvements such as children’s train rides, Australian poetry and local history presentations will round out the commemoration.<\/p>\n
A fry-up breakfast of bacon, egg, sausage and toast will be available on the day for a small fee.<\/p>\n
The event runs from 8am until 10.30am at Anglesea Riverbank, near the Tourist Information Shelter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
