ATHLETES and golf enthusiasts gathered on Sunday at The Sands Torquay to raise important funds for prostate cancer.<\/p>\n

Tee It Up podcast host Kieran Nolan and Torquay local Ben Eccles led a shotgun start featuring a full field of 88 players that began on the stroke of 1pm.<\/p>\n

The field included a mixed bag of Geelong Cats, Melbourne Storm players, a couple of Essendon Bombers (one current and one former), as well as pro and regular golfers, as the group teed off at the special charity event.<\/p>\n

The Sands Torquay’s director of golf Tom Jeffries said the cohort of players had an original goal of $2,000, but confirmed the amount raised on the day surpassed the original total earmarked for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA).<\/p>\n

“It was definitely one of the better charity golf days that I have been a part of and the first time I had done a charity golf day raising funds for prostate cancer.<\/p>\n

“The support from the Geelong Football Club was tremendous bring the premiership cup down and all of its players supporting the event.<\/p>\n

Geelong’s Premiership Cup enjoyed the full tour of The Sands Torquay last Sunday.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

“Jeremy Cameron donated his cash prize from the day back to the charity and we are already garnering interest for an event potentially next year that we can expand upon.<\/p>\n

“This is definitely something we’ll look to grow and start looking at things such as silent raffles, a luncheon, and other prizes for players on the day.<\/p>\n
