ORGANISERS have cited financial pressure for their decision to cancel this year’s edition of Queenscliff’s By The Pier.<\/p>\n

The festival was set to take place on March 24-25 as a spin-off from the Queenscliff Music Festival, but festival organisers stated last weekend the second coming of the event would not go ahead.<\/p>\n

“Sadly we have cancelled the 2023 edition of By The Pier with ticket refunds effective immediately,” By The Pier organisers wrote on the event’s official Facebook page.<\/p>\n

“Due to a number of factors impacting on the financial sustainability of the event, including rising costs, increased competition and lower-than-expected sales, our not-for-profit community organisation cannot responsibly proceed with the event and put at risk significant financial losses.<\/p>\n

“After such a successful debut event in 2022, we set out with high hopes in 2023.<\/p>\n

“We have put a lot of time and effort into bringing something new and exciting to Queenscliff and despite our best efforts, it simply hasn’t worked. Our team are devastated and very sorry.<\/p>\n

“We would like to thank everyone for their understanding and support in this decision.”<\/p>\n

Artists that were set to perform at the festival included Thelma Plum, SAFIA, Holy Holy, King Stingray, Slowly Slowly, Alice Ivy and Big Twisty & The Funk Nasty.<\/p>\n

Ticket refunds are effective immediately, and ticket agency Oztix have contacted all ticketholders regarding the process of seeking refunds.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
