Photos: PETER MARSHALL<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8220;There was a little drizzle at the start of the day, but by the end of the day we had to put the &#8216;closed&#8217; sign up, so we were extremely stoked to get to that stage,&#8221; Mr Turner said.<\/p>\n<p>To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the first Corvette model, the Motor Show&#8217;s theme for 2023 was the American car make, Corvette.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/02\/B07K7600-SteveMcDon_60737.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Steve McDonald and his Best in Show 1931 Ford Model A Hot Rod.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Fittingly, the Corvette Club of Melbourne secured the award for best club on the day, facilitating a line-up of every Corvette model ever for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We approximate that at least 3,000 people passed through the gates on Sunday based on the fact we sold out of programs made up for the entrants and the public,&#8221; Mr Turner added.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 470px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/02\/B07K7521-Corvettes_57354.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"470\" height=\"313\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Corvettes of Melbourne provided a treat to visitors, producing a full lineup of every Corvette model made since 1953.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8220;The volunteers we had on the day was marvellous as usual, we were going from about 6am in the morning to 6pm in the afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We did have a moment to wind down and reflect on the day, it gave us a chance to recognise how proud we were of how the day went.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Final fundraising totals are yet to be confirmed, but Mr Turner is confident the club had reached its goal of $15,000.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE first Torquay Rotary Motor Show without late &#8220;first crew&#8221; member Greg Plumridge had a sombre undertone, but community spirit was on full display Sunday.
