{"id":93602,"date":"2023-02-21T04:00:40","date_gmt":"2023-02-20T17:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=93602"},"modified":"2023-02-16T12:59:11","modified_gmt":"2023-02-16T01:59:11","slug":"tigers-announce-new-president-vice-president-at-spring-creek-reserve","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/tigers-announce-new-president-vice-president-at-spring-creek-reserve\/","title":{"rendered":"Tigers announce new president, vice president at Spring Creek Reserve"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">TORQUAY Tigers netball is entering an exciting new chapter with the appointment of its new president and vice president.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Tigers appointed its new netball president Katherine Taylor and vice president Michael Gibson at its recent committee meeting ahead of the 2023 season.<\/p>\n<p>A former junior at the Tigers, Ms Taylor had several seasons off due to injury and studies before applying for a junior coaching role five seasons ago.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 440px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/02\/IMG_1170_42039.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"440\" height=\"293\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Former Tigers junior and new president Katherine Taylor.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>She has coached at the Under 15 level before moving into a senior coaching role in 2020 where she has continued coaching since. Ms Taylor already confirmed she would be co-coaching the club&#8217;s C Grade seniors with Maddy Martin this season.<\/p>\n<p>The newly announced president said she was looking forward to building relationships with her new committee and was warmly welcomed by the senior playing group.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;People are already coming forward with new ideas for this season and we&#8217;re excited to work out how we can make some of those a reality for the club.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It hasn&#8217;t really sunk in that I am now the president of the club, that will probably come when the season begins, but I have a great connection to this club.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a bit clich\u00e9, but the club is like a family and I&#8217;m excited to see what we can do in 2023.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>While Mr Gibson has never suited up for the Tigers, the Torquay resident has a daughter playing in Under 15s and is ready to give back to the community he resides in.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our on-field success for this season, I believe, will stem from the culture structure that we already have in place,&#8221; Mr Gibson said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have a terrific group of coaches, we have really good engagement of the families at the club, and I think we&#8217;re in for a strong season.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m excited to help improve and push that forward.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 444px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/02\/IMG_1180_45922.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"444\" height=\"296\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">New Torquay vice president Michael Gibson.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Former president Meagan Mifsud and vice president Sarah Clark will continue to work with their successors throughout the year when required.<\/p>\n<p>Torquay Tigers are still on the hunt for team managers and junior coach in the lead up to the season&#8217;s start in April.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TORQUAY Tigers netball is entering an exciting new chapter with the appointment of its new president and vice president.
