while 33 people even recorded personal bests,\u201d Ms Minter said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve had great turnouts at Torquay parkrun this summer, and each week, passers-by stop to ask questions about how to get involved; it\u2019s a great free community event to be a part of.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn total we had 226 people run, jog and walk, plus eleven volunteers who helped make the event possible &#8211; a terrific result.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur runners, walkers, and volunteers also had a chance to socialise after completing the course and were treated to a recovery massage, health checks from the Medibank van, relaxing shaded areas, and complimentary fruit and snacks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was wonderful to have all of our participants embrace the event.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Medibank Group Executive, Rob Deeming said it was \u201cfantastic to see such strong participation at the Torquay event\u201d.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_94060\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-94060\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-94060 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/02\/Torquay-6-600x380.jpeg?_t=1677023277\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-94060\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">33 people recorded best ever times.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_94061\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-94061\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-94061 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/02\/Torquay-7-600x380.jpeg?_t=1677023298\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-94061\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">46 first timers entered into Saturday&#8217;s fun run.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re very proud of the social connections the event has fostered within the local community,\u201d Mr Deeming said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith another ten locations to go, we\u2019re looking forward to seeing the Medibank parkrun Road Trip continue to travel across the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The next stop on the Medibank x parkrun calendar is Albury Wodonga on Saturday, March 4.<\/p>\n<p>To learn more, head to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.medibank.com.au\/livebetter\/activities\/partners\/parkrun\/\">www.medibank.com.au\/livebetter\/activities\/partners\/parkrun\/<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TORQUAY&#8217;S parkrun attracted more than 200 participants and gave the community an opportunity to connect, be active and improve their mental and physical wellbeing.
