ONE of the regular members of Torquay\u2019s parkrun course has celebrated her 50th birthday by stepping out with friends and family from across Australia.<\/p>\n

Caitlin Doble had about 20 extra people, including visitors from Adelaide and Darwin, running with her on Saturday morning along the five-kilometre course, which starts and finishes at Fishermans Beach.<\/p>\n

Caitlin\u2019s sister-in-law Rebecca Doble (who lives in the Adelaide Hills) said the birthday girl was surprised on the day when everyone turned up in \u201cTeam Caitlin\u201d T-shirts and carrying an \u201cI am Caitlin\u201d T-shirt for her.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe invited everyone to the day, she said \u2018everyone must come to parkrun\u2019, but she didn\u2019t know we were going to take part in the T-shirts. She took it very graciously.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mrs Doble said it was a very joyous occasion, and even better because everyone finished.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had quite a few people running for the first time, and I think a couple of people may have set personal bests.\u201d<\/p>\n

She said parkrun \u2013 a free, weekly timed run with courses across the world \u2013 was a great way to exercise.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s such a supportive community and people cheer you to get across the finish line.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlus the scenery at Torquay is just magnificent.\u201d<\/p>\n
