SURF Coast residents are invited to commemorate loving mother and valued community member Angie Ims at a fundraising event to raise money and awareness for mental health support this weekend.
\nAngie\u2019s Big Day will be held at Bob Pettit Reserve in Jan Juc on Sunday March 27, featuring police cars, a slip and slide and lots of other fun, family activities.
\nThere\u2019s also a good chance the Easter Bunny will arrive to watch the giant Easter egg hunt, so be sure to bring your cameras.
\nAngie\u2019s partner of 10 years, Simon Flannery said she was a 38-year-old loving mother to their daughter Ivy and a hard-working, volunteering member of the Torquay community.
\n\u201cShe loved the beach and fashion; she was a warm and caring person who took her own life on January 24 this year.
\n\u201cDepression was her secret and she felt she could not tell anyone, we all wish she had so we could have helped her.
\n\u201c6.9 Australian people take their lives every day and approximately a further 250 will attempt it \u2013 we, as a community, need to improve this.
\n\u201cThe devastation to loved ones when someone takes their life is unimaginable.
\n\u201cIf the funds raised can stop just one person from taking their life and sparing this pain, it will be all worth it.\u201d
