APPLICATIONS have opened to a federal funding pool that enables local government and not-for-profit community organisations in Corangamite to puruse small scale infrastructure and capital projects.<\/p>\n
The eighth round of the Australian Government’s Stronger Communities Programme provides funding of between $2,500 and $20,000 for up to 20 local projects, from a capped per electorate pool of $150,000.<\/p>\n
A criteria for applicants is that the projects clearly demonstrate social benefits and boost local community participation, and can include requests from organisations like sporting clubs to complete fit-outs and equipment purchases.<\/p>\n
Corangamite federal member Libby Coker said interested applicants could seek assistance from her office before the expression of interest closing date of April 6.<\/p>\n
“I encourage community groups, sporting clubs and local governments in my electorate to apply,” she said.<\/p>\n
Regional Development and Local Government Minister Catherine King said the funding stream was designed with the knowledge that each electorate had its own project funding requirements.<\/p>\n
“Every single community in Australia is unique, and the Albanese Government recognises that local governments, community organisations and that people who live in their region best understand their local priorities,” she said.<\/p>\n
“This program will deliver lasting infrastructure and much-needed equipment based on local priorities, benefitting communities long into the future.”<\/p>\n
