ORGANISERS of Anglesea Primary School’s Village Fair say the event is shaping up to be “bigger and better than ever” after a three year pandemic enforced absence.<\/p>\n
The all-community and all-ages affair on March Labour Day long weekend is the school’s annual fundraiser for the school and money raised will go towards supporting students, whose numbers have increased by over 50 per cent in recent years.<\/p>\n
Parents club member Hayley Bingham said the group was proud to again host the fair, given the last event was in 2020.<\/p>\n
“This will be our major fundraiser for the calendar year, to which we are fundraising towards new equipment to accommodate our growing student enrolment.”<\/p>\n
A focus of this year’s event is zero waste going to landfill and Ms Bingham said a team of “bin fairies” will be on duty to assist with the process.<\/p>\n
“Sustainability is our forefront focus, with all our waste being biodegradable, compostable or recyclable,” Ms Bingham said.<\/p>\n
Entertainment on the day will include more than 25 market stalls from local makers and growers, a second hand toy and book stall, and the ever popular baked cake stand.<\/p>\n
There will be dodgem cars, the Lions train, a petting zoo and dedicated under 5s play area run by Kellie Club for children, and adults will also be catered to via a sample of boutique local wines, beer and ciders.<\/p>\n
Meal offerings on the day include a gourmet BBQ run by the school, alongside local food vans from Feed Me Surf Coast, Vietnamese Bahn Me, Momos & Dumplings and Mr Twisty Potato.<\/p>\n
Tristan J Ross, Craig and Georgina Sayer and Mic Jam hosted by talented Anglesea Primary School students will round out the days musical entertainment.<\/p>\n
Entry will be by gold coin and there will be a silent auction for prizes that have been donated by local businesses.<\/p>\n
The Village Fair will be held at Anglesea Primary School at 85 Camp Road between 4pm-8pm next Saturday (March 11).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
