{"id":96760,"date":"2023-03-23T04:00:40","date_gmt":"2023-03-22T17:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=96760"},"modified":"2023-03-22T14:32:12","modified_gmt":"2023-03-22T03:32:12","slug":"narrowest-of-margins-decides-all-abilities-summer-netball-league-champions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/sport\/narrowest-of-margins-decides-all-abilities-summer-netball-league-champions\/","title":{"rendered":"Narrowest of margins decides All Abilities Summer Netball League champions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Barwon All Abilities Netball competition has rounded out in the finest of fashions, with only one point separating the overall Grand Final winners.<\/p>\n<p>Last Wednesday evening, playoffs were completed for both overall and consolation winners of the summer tournament, with Newcomb\/Lara taking out the top crown over Geelong West Giants, 22-21.<\/p>\n<p>In the consolation grand final between the third and fourth ranked teams, Grovedale\/St Joseph&#8217;s was able to oust the Surf Coast Suns also by a single goal, 14-13.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_96767\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-96767\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-96767 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/03\/333201952_8722829305_24502-1-600x380.jpg?_t=1679440255\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-96767\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Surf Coast Suns were also one of the finalists.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Supported by Leisure Networks and AFL Barwon, the All Abilities competition has been running as a winter competition for close to 10 years, however due to high demand, this year was the inaugural summer season.<\/p>\n<p>Leisure Networks program co-ordinator Luke Maher said it was fantastic to finish the first summer season with such close results.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_96768\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-96768\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-96768 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/03\/334091719_1141057273_24517-1-600x380.jpg?_t=1679440267\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-96768\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Newcomb players receiving their premiership medals.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Both games had a point in it\u2026 a Newcomb girl hit a game winner just before the buzzer to win the main grand final which was amazing,&#8221; Maher said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Because we had no PA, we had everyone singing the national anthems all together before the games to get in the spirit&#8230; there was certainly some beauty to that.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The turnout throughout the summer tournament was great&#8230; it&#8217;ll segue nicely now into our All-Abilities football league which will kick off in the coming month.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>For more information and to get involved in the All Abilities leagues, email Luke Maher, program co-ordinator at Leisure Networks at luke.maher@leisurenetworks.org<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE Barwon All Abilities Netball competition has rounded out in the finest of fashions, with only one point separating the overall Grand Final winners.
