Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Surf Coast Longboarders president Penny Andrews said the event was once again a fantastic celebration of women and their contribution to surfing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had a really wonderful day\u2026 we had lots of participations including a full field of open women and a bunch of juniors,&#8221; Andrews said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The event is all about getting women together to meet other women who surf and to encourage our juniors\u2026 it&#8217;s always coincided with International Women&#8217;s Day.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s all about sharing the stoke, having fun and shifting it away from it all being about competition.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;While we had to end the day early because of the high winds, heat and fires, everything went really well.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_96811\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-96811\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-96811 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/03\/DSC_1112-600x380.jpg?_t=1679440826\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-96811\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The event celebrated the contribution women make to surfing.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_96807\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-96807\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-96807 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/03\/DSC_9699-600x380.jpg?_t=1679440681\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-96807\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">More than 50 women supported the event.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Andrews said the club were also absolutely thrilled with the event&#8217;s fundraising, including the long list of local sponsors who contributed prizes for event winners.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the club&#8217;s commitment to help people in the community, competitors donated homewares, clothes, shoes, toiletries and toys to go to people in crisis, experiencing homelessness, are refugees and victims of domestic violence.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_96813\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-96813\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-96813 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/03\/DSC_0336-600x380.jpg?_t=1679440894\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-96813\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Angela King cruising down the line at Point Impossible.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our aim is to provide relief for families and individuals in need,&#8221; Andrews said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The program is privately run with support from health and welfare agencies and operated with the highest integrity.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Overall, the show of support was terrific and we are very thankful to all the women for turning up, donating and being involved.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MORE than 50 women from across than state descended on Point Impossible Beach to celebrate Surf Coast Longboarders Wild Women on the Water fundraiser event.
