{"id":96866,"date":"2023-03-28T04:00:59","date_gmt":"2023-03-27T17:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=96866"},"modified":"2023-03-28T11:46:18","modified_gmt":"2023-03-28T00:46:18","slug":"easter-luncheon-to-celebrate-local-surf-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/easter-luncheon-to-celebrate-local-surf-community\/","title":{"rendered":"Easter Luncheon to celebrate local surf community"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TORQUAY Boardriders Club\u2019s annual Bells Beach Luncheon is back bigger and better this Easter, giving the community the ultimate start to the Rip Curl Pro festivities.<\/p>\n<p>The March 31 event at Jan Juc Surf Life Saving Club, will bring together the local community, businesses and surfing icons to raise funds which will allow the surfing club to continue delivering development programs, events and future upgrades.<\/p>\n<p>Confirmed guests for the event include Wadawurrung Traditional Owner Corinna Eccles, local media and surf industry maestro Neil Ridgway and Rip Curl team riders Brisa Hennessy and Mason Ho.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_96872\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-96872\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-96872 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/03\/B07K9034-Neil-Ridgway-Adam-Robertson-collaborative-luncheon-fundraiser-Jan-Juc-SLSC-Torquay-Boardriders-1-600x380.jpg?_t=1679442594\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-96872\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Neil Ridgway (left) will once again MC the fundraiser, seen here alongside local surfing icon Adam Robertson.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Torquay Boardriders Club president Harry Mann said the event was a huge part in funding the future success of the surfers coming through the local ranks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are such a big club and to run a club that big involves a lot of fundraising\u2026 Jan Juc SLSC have been an integral part in letting us use their venue and creating a unique partnership,\u201d Mann said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis event has changed the club, we\u2019ve been able to put more money into junior development, state representative trips, equipment and the quality of events we can run.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had a van that was not very safe, tents that were falling apart and speakers that wouldn\u2019t work\u2026 now that\u2019s all been upgraded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe generosity has been overwhelming these first few years&#8230;
