ANGLESEA Primary School’s biggest fundraiser of the year has entertained the town’s residents and visitors for the first time in three years, while reaching its critical fundraising target.<\/p>\n
Parents club member Marcelle Renkin said perfect weather was just the tip of the iceberg during the town’s first Village Fair since 2020.<\/p>\n
“We had people arriving before the start time of 4pm (Saturday, March 11) and hanging around until after 8pm, so we could tell that people were excited to have the fair back,” she said.<\/p>\n
“I’d argue it was one of the highest attendances that we’ve ever had for this event, we generally get an average of 3,000 people attending each year, but this year’s was noticeably busier in that regard, I’d estimate between 3,500 to 4,000.”<\/p>\n
The school confirmed it surpassed its fundraising goal of $10,000 through its gold coin entry fees and silent auctions.<\/p>\n
The funds will go into several of the school’s education programs, including several of its outdoor learning spaces, student resources, and its Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program for students.<\/p>\n
Attendees made full use of the fair’s 25 market stalls and carnival-style rides.<\/p>\n
“It was the culmination of months of work for the parents club,” Ms Renkin added.<\/p>\n
“To hear the happy squeals of kids again on the Cha Cha Ride was a great moment for me personally, it was all worth it. Also, to see families out and about having a good time, was great to see.<\/p>\n
“It really is good for the school, it allows us to fund programs that wouldn’t otherwise be funded, thus allowing the teachers to enhance the learning experience of students at Anglesea Primary.”<\/p>\n
Tristan J Ross, Craig and Georgina Sayer and a ‘Mic Jam’ performed by talented local students rounded out the day’s entertainment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
