MORE than 1,000 fans and talented musicians packed into Aireys Inlet over the weekend enjoying a new-look Aireys Inlet Music Festival.<\/p>\n
Event director Patrick Donovan said a strong first night featuring a talented mix of local and visiting artists including Forever Son, Torquay talent Immy Owusu, Zoe Fox & The Rocket Clocks and headliner Ella Hooper got the festival underway.<\/p>\n
“It was a great Friday night show to get things going,” Mr Donovan said.<\/p>\n
“Saturday was interesting because we had Rod Stewart and Cyndi Lauper cancel their show at Mount Duneed Estate, so we tried to get the word out that we were a worthy alternative, leading into a superb Sunday headlined by popular country musician Andy Golledge.”<\/p>\n
Previously a free open-mic event, Mr Donovan said the festival’s transition to becoming a curated event was well-received in addition to high praise of the quality of entertainment.<\/p>\n
“One of the best pieces of feedback we received was patrons really enjoyed the musical acts and we didn’t get asked for any refunds,” he added.<\/p>\n
“All the bands chose to hang around as well, we would have had close to 80 bands in the audience on Sunday alone. It was a terrific atmosphere to be a part of.<\/p>\n
“We will continue to look for ideas to improve the festival in future years, but we’re excited to entertain the Surf Coast again in 2024.”<\/p>\n
All proceeds from ticket sales went to the festival’s musicians.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
