A PASSIONATE Torquay local’s Alice in Wonderland themed morning tea and market stall event has helped to generate more than $1600 for the Royal Children’s Hospital.<\/p>\n

Hosted at the Salvation Army Hall in Torquay last Thursday, All Aboard Disability Support Services participant Emerald Tysoe’s special fundraiser smashed it out of the park in almost every way possible, raising more than five times the initial fundraising target of $300.<\/p>\n

Emerald and her All Aboard team said they were absolutely rapt with the result of the fundraiser and expressed how lucky they were to have the Chair of the Royal Children’s Hospital, Dr Rowena Coutts, attend the event in person.<\/p>\n

The event included special gift stalls and a morning tea.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

“It was just absolutely thrilling\u2026 Emerald and our team were just over the moon at the result,” All Aboard Disability Support Services director Kate Marshall said.<\/p>\n

“We had about 60 people attend the event and they were all just so amazingly generous\u2026 there was a great feeling of community and care.<\/p>\n

“Attendees just loved the Alice in Wonderland theme, and we were just glad that people thought it was so special… we know the funds raised will certainly go a long way.”<\/p>\n

Royal Children’s Hospital regional co-ordinator Peter McMahon also echoed Mrs Marshall’s sentiment, expressing how proud he was of Emerald’s efforts.<\/p>\n

“I’m absolutely staggered on what she achieved… I thought it was going to be a pretty small event, but to raise $1600 is unbelievable,” Mr McMahon said.<\/p>\n

“She was able to really get some support for it and it was just a beautiful and very touching morning tea… sophisticated and high quality.<\/p>\n

“The support we (Royal Children’s Hospital) [continue] to get from the community has just been fabulous… we are well on our way to our $30,000 area overall fundraising goal.”<\/p>\n
