MOORABOOL Shire Council is inviting local artists to join a free session with creative industry experts.
The interactive talk will be held at Ballan Neighbourhood House on Wednesday 28 May and include a panel of regional experts discussing how promotion and communication can lead to exposure.
Panellists include Jude Anderson, artistic director of Punctum, poet, writer and broadcaster Izzy Roberts-Orr, and Madeleine Sawyer, sustainable destination development at Tourism Midwest Victoria.
They will present a case study, share their personal experiences and answer questions.
“Our arts and culture team at Moorabool is hosting this forum to help artists communicate effectively, produce web and socials content and run their own promotions,” mayor Cr Paul Tatchell said.
“The panel of experts were chosen based on where they live, understanding of local issues and of volunteering.”
Attendees will learn about how to promote themselves, identify free tools and maximise the exposure of creative content.
The session is suitable for people with all levels of digital literacy.
“We hope that attendees of all ages and tech savviness will feel less intimidated by social media tools and importantly, see the value that can be achieved by committing a percentage of their already stretched volunteer time on developing catchy text and great images,” Cr Tatchell said.
After the panel, attendees will have the opportunity to mingle over light refreshments.
