THOUSANDS of pre-loved books will be up for grabs at Gordon Public Hall for a quickfire two hours tomorrow (at just $3 a pop) when the Book Bounce Sale returns to town.

There’ll be titles sorted by genre as well as full unclassified boxes for the dedicated forager.

One half of the operation Josh Dunbar said the idea originally took shape following “a chance encounter with a box of books on the side of the road.”

“(After) saving them, the concept of changing the narrative around the condition and usefulness of a pre owned book was born,” he said.

“I pitched the business to my friend Garrison and he agreed that there needs to be change, and Book Bounce was created.

“Since launching three years ago we’ve saved over 85,000 books from landfill, all of this in our spare time as we both work other jobs.”

Mr Dunbar said Book Bounce’s business model highlights that a “slightly damaged book” is still perfectly readable and is worth saving.

“Unless it’s water damaged or mouldy we can usually find it a home, but if no one wants a particular book we can sustainably recycle it, avoiding building up landfills (and) saving the environment.”

He said an eclectic spectrum of genres will be on offer – from books still available in shops to those dating back to the 1600s – which he expects will bring many different collectors and book lovers to search through.

“But, Sci-Fi and Horror genres go as soon as we put them out,” he said.

The Book Bounce Sale takes place tomorrow, 12 April, at Gordon Public Hall in Main Street from 11am to 1pm.
