Burn up the dance floor at Disco Inferno

FUNKY dance tunes, great vibes and excessive sparkle are forecast as Blackwood readies itself for this month’s return of Disco Inferno.
Set for Saturday evening 13 June, the event takes place in the Blackwood Town Hall and is back following its debut last year.
Organisers are inviting locals and visitors alike to disco the night away and see in winter in style.
Disco Inferno is organised by the Disco Sistas, a group of five friends who live in Blackwood and share a love of music, dressing up, community events and bringing people together.
“We love creating fun, family-friendly events that brighten the depths of a Blackwood winter while supporting local businesses and suppliers,” said one of the Sistas, Caitlin Perry.
“The idea came about after we hired the Blackwood Cricket Club bus and attended the Tylden Prom.
“It made us realise that our own beautiful town hall was being underutilised.
“The hall is a time capsule of original 1970s design, complete with an orange linoleum kitchen, lime-green carpet, patterned curtains, matching dining chairs, a full stage, timber dancefloor and retro lounge furniture.”

With such an atmospheric backdrop already in place, holding a disco felt like the perfect plan, Perry said.
“Disco Inferno is a not-for-profit community event and proceeds go toward future community projects in Blackwood,” she said.
“Last year, funds raised contributed to the new playground at the Blackwood oval and we hope to continue supporting local initiatives as opportunities arise.”
Besides the chance to burn up the dance floor, the event will feature a glitter and sparkle station, seven local DJs, a food truck, a wine bar, outdoor fire pits, tarot readings and a party bus service home.
“We’ve worked hard to keep the event affordable and accessible, with tickets priced at just $20 and BYO drinks welcome,” Perry said.
“Tickets will be available at the door, however we recommend purchasing in advance particularly if you’d like to book a seat on the party bus.”
Tickets are also available online via Humanitix
